    Hey, new here,
    any suggestions about hosting a old-school BBS? I wanted to pull my Amiga out of my basement, but sadly it has a broken motherboard. Any alternatives?

    BBSs on old hardware. So I've been tinkering with my Atari 800 lately and I've discovered a few things. BBS software is wholy lacking for the Atari 8-bit line, or at least it's very difficult to find BBS disks that don't have corrupted .ARC's. That said I have found a few BBSs that have been setup to work with an SIO2PC (PCB that links an Atari to a PC, the PC can emulate Disk drives, or route serial traffic to hardware on the PC or to the Internet), so I can setup my Atari to answer BBS calls fairly easily.

    Of course there are limitations, and my biggest limitation is I'm just not used to using my Atari as much as I used to be. So editing setups, ATASCII screens, and customizing is taking a bit of effort and right now I'm just doing it as a side project. Hopefully sometime this year I'll get everything setup and running. Right now I'm planning to run the system as sort of a backdoor game, you'll have to "figure out" how to get on the computer and if you do I'll have something cool you can experience on it.

    As for your Amiga, I guess if it doesn't work it's time to hit up eBay for parts, or just go with a PC board. Synchronet and Mystic BBS are both well supported and extremely easy to setup.
