What did you use for the Leap Day toast, then....?

Although the below quote is from a previous message that I missed when replying to it, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to test
Little Mikey's Brain to see if anything funky is still happening on
the 'local' loop (Net153). The tagline seems to be working fine.
What did you use for the Leap Day toast, then....?
Leftover Aberlour 12yo from 2020-01-01. It was good but a tad too expensive even on sale ... which it was.
Seems to be... and how is the test working...?
Oh, right... so you used the expensive stuff for two toasts... ;)
That's an economical way to go... ;)

I am still working out a few details as we speak. Nothing to be
alarmed about ... yet. :::evil grin:::

Actually a few nontoasts in between but it did last longer than it
usually does around here.
I'm just not going to worry about it
Fewer extra mouths with social distancing...??
Or just more careful rationing due to the priciness of the
bottle....

Not really since the so-called lockdown happened after 2020-02-29.
Just about everyone and their dog were still in denial at that time.
Or just more careful rationing due to the priciness of the
bottle....
Usually January to August are slow times around here when it comes to drinking. This year I bought the bottle for 2020-01-01 after
Christmas so it had a much better chance of going the distance.
However once we decided there would be a special cybertoast for leap
years then the rationing thing kicked in.
I imagine I'll end up replicating this idea for the 2024 season and
make whatever last for both the 2024-01-01 and the 2024-02-29 celebrations, perhaps beyond to 2024-11-05 if the brand is right, say "Battle of the Glen" or the more local "Shelter Point Single Malt
Whisky".
I may up trying the "Shelter Point Single Malt Whisky" for the
2020-11-05 cybertoast but we'll see in roughly 177 days.
Expensive enough spreads one should meter them out... ;)
Depending on availability, eh...? Start saving your money now..

For sure. Too bad I can't get the neighbours to agree, although they never impacted the Aberlour that much. I am guessing because I bought
it just prior to New Years which is not normal operating procedures
with me. As a rule I use the rationed part of the bottle I buy before Christmas for 2021-01-01 and therefore there wouldn't be anything left
for 2020-02-29.
Depending on availability, eh...? Start saving your money now...
Sounds like a plan.
I think you meant 2020-01-01, not 2021... ;)
That way you can afford to treat yourself... :)

Yes I did. Thank you. I tend to think about ones to come rather than those that have gone by so 2021-01-01 might be dependant on 2020-12-25
but maybe not this year as it might turn out to be leftover from 2020-11-05.
I've noticed that less and less of what I have onboard seems to be
going a longer distance as time goes by. I think this is a good thing.
:::patent pending:::
That way you can afford to treat yourself... :)
I am sure I can never truly afford it but what the heck.
Especially should you splurge for 11-05.... ;)
Splurge on the good stuff, and then show restraint in the
consumption thereof... ;) That works... <G>

Too far away to start planning now. Anything particular you have to suggest? I am open to ideas as long as I can get it locally. Offhand
I'd love to try "Battle of the Glen - 15 Year Old" which cannot be had locally but can be ordered online for 130.43 CAD as it sits today.
Maybe that fits in with;
Splurge on the good stuff, and then show restraint in the

Definetly something to ponder. At the moment I have far too much
other things that are competing for my attention ... and dollars that
I don't have. :-/
We'll see.
one of these days you really should try it.... and hope that it
meets or exceeds your expectations... especially at that price
Balancing the competing interests can be a fine trick

I think I might just do this as curiousity is getting the better of
me. At the given price, plus shipping, taxes etc. it *better* exceed
my expectations. Also rationing it would be a good idea.
Also, also I will make a point of it lasting to at least 2021-01-01
if indeed it turns out to be worthy. Anyhow I do like the name and
the story behind it.
Balancing the competing interests can be a fine trick
In my case it will be magic if I pull it off and manage to survive
until at least 2021-01-01. Do you think I might be asking for too
much?
And if it is as good as you hope, I'm sure I'll be quite
properly jealous,
and sorry that our toasts do indeed need to be cyber and not in
person.... ;)

That has never been the objective but be prepared to be jealous since
I went ahead and ordered it.

Me too but maybe someday although lately I have serious doubts all
things considered.
Into each life some magic must fall.....??
Keeping my fingers crossed.
Ok... the die is cast... ;)
One never knows.... I now have another friend living in your
neck of the woods....
I might eventually figure out a way to go visit her... not this
year, though, obviously.....

Interesting. It is certainly a beautiful place no matter what season
but the rain does get to people in the winter.

You will be welcome I am sure. This year does look like a washout and
the border is still closed until the middle of July for sure,
according to the powers that be. After that we'll see but I am not betting the farm on it opening at all this summer.
I noticed the
farmer's market on the highway not too far from here is now open. :-)
Her family is all in the Vancouver area, and she's lately been
staying part-time with a friend in Duncan... :)
It will all depend on what sorts of abundance of caution get

Things are loosening up lately and they are now promoting travel
within the country.
The border between our countries are still closed
other than for essential workers/services/trade. The last I heard it could open up around July 15th
so Americans will have to celebrate
this July Fourth without drunken Canadians dancing on table tops with
no pants on. Oh the humanity.
Just as well I don't need to pick up my son at the Montreal
Airport this year.... ;)
Happy Canada Day (tomorrow as I write this)...!

I heard yesterday that the border could stay closed for nonessential travel for another year.
Happy Canada Day (tomorrow as I write this)...!
That was yesterday (as I reply to thus). I celebrated by buying an
extra large Dark Roast from the Tim Horton's drive through. How about you?
That could be a bummer... but not that out of reason to do

That is the word thus far. So far the border is still closed and
given that the numbers are getting worse on that side of the fence it surprises nobody on this side of the fence.

Very quiet here on both the 1st and 4th as far as fireworks and/or fireworks were concerned.
I'll admit our overall numbers, particularly on your side of
the continent are pretty bad...
