Aeroflot plans to order more than 300 Russian built aircraft. Due to the Western sanctions, the Russian airline can no longer order Boeings and Airbuses, and it is also no longer able to obtain spare parts. New aircraft of their own make may offer a solution.
However, all western operators of the SSJ100 Superjet have sent their aircraft back because they are too expensive to maintain and operate.
Also the announcement seems like propaganda because cockpit technology and avionics in the SSJ100, the TU214 and the MC-21 are also on the West's sanctions list. The EASA also has no intention to certify the MC-21m neither the larger version nor its smaller brother.
