Virgin Atlantic will now allow pilots, cabin crew and ground crews to decide for themselves what uniform they want to wear. Furthermore, when booking a ticket, passengers are now allowed to tick an 'x' next to 'male' or 'female'.
The British airline says it wants to become more 'inclusive' through the new rules. Earlier, the rule that female cabin crew had to wear a skirt was dropped, and the make-up can also be chosen. Recently it is no longer forbidden to have visible tattoos.
Personnel who wear a badge with their name on it during their work can, if they wish, also have their desired pronouns applied to it.
To embrace the diversity of backgrounds and life choices within the company and customer base, Virgin Atlantic offers special training courses for its staff.
