Canada will allow fully vaccinated travelers again from September 7 for non-essential travel, without having to quarantine for two weeks after arrival. The same relaxation will come into effect for American travelers on August 9. Travelers must be fully vaccinated two weeks prior to arrival.
Travelers must demonstrate that they have been vaccinated through the ArriveCAN app or website. They must also have their vaccination certificate with them in case they are asked to do so. The Canadian government is lifting the mandatory three-night stay on arrival in Canada for unvaccinated travelers in a designated hotel. Travelers must still be able to submit a suitable quarantine plan.
"Thanks to the hard work of Canadians, more and more vaccinations and fewer corona cases, the government is able to lift the border measures," the Canadian government said in a statement. The government does emphasize that Canadians should avoid unnecessary travel for the time being.
As of this month, Canada is easing travel restrictions. Fully vaccinated Canadians or people with a residence permit are already allowed to enter without being quarantined. Before returning to Canada, those travelers will need a negative test result and will be tested again upon arrival.
