Air Canada is significantly increasing the number of flights to the United States now that travel restrictions between the two countries will be relaxed from August 9. The Canadian airline will then operate a maximum of 220 daily flights on 55 routes to and from 34 destinations in the US.
Effective August 9, the quarantine requirement will expire for fully vaccinated Americans visiting Canada for non-essential purposes. It is also becoming easier for Canadians to make trips to the US.
Air Canada was the largest foreign airline in the US before the outbreak of the corona pandemic. As soon as it is possible, the airline wants to fly again to all 57 American destinations it previously served.
On Monday it was announced that Canada will also allow other fully vaccinated travelers for non-essential travel from September 7, without having to quarantine for two weeks after arrival. How Air Canada will respond to that relaxation remains to be seen.
Earlier this month, Air Canada announced that it would cautiously resume operations on eight European routes over the next two months.
