I may not always be right, but I'm never wrong (just kidding) <G>.
I dont square dance never did and never will I used to skill gym class when they did that and got suspended for doing til my dad had to go in
and he said why does he have to square Dance the Pri. said it coordination, he replyed does he walk okay, they said yes then if
he wants to skip class thats fine but he will get a F for a grade, Oh well.
When I did "square dancing" back in elementary school 55 years ago now,
we danced "boy-boy" or "girl-girl", and thought nothing of it. Well, after
I had graduated class in late 1985 (more on that in a minute), I was known
as "an angel"...a dancer who has completed class, but is helping new
students learn the steps. But, this caller tried to get this young boy
to dance with this girl...however, the boy would have none of it...she
was poisoned with cooties!! <G>
As for the "square dancing" that my parents got into 40 years ago (I
didn't start for 2 1/2 years after that, and I regret that I waited),
the first night of class, the females (single and married) were giving
me hugs, what we term as "yellow rocks". I thought "What have I gotten
myself into??!!"...and a married lady dancer told me later that she
felt the same way. But, after graduation, it was like "Next, please!!" <G>
I used to travel all around the country to the big national conventions
and area festivals, but health and finances won't let me do that anymore.
I am just getting into ham, I took the test last month and I failed oh well more studying needed. As for what I like to do is BBsing which I
have 4 at the moment and working number 5, I ride motorcycle when its
not darn hot here(Florida). Messing with computers and trying to understand them is my other hobby as well as boating and fishing
Astronomy is my other Crutch. I could go on but dont want to bore you. Your bbs looks good keep up the good work!
First, with the ham radio license exams, THERE IS NO DISGRACE IN FAILING.
Not everyone has passed an amateur radio exam on the first try. Even though most countries have eliminated the knowledge of Morse Code as a requirement
to get your amateur radio license, you still are tested on the rules, bands, frequencies, propagation, and electronic theory...more advanced as you work
up the licensing ladder.
The bottom line is that if it takes you a dozen tries or more to pass
the exam...even if just barely...you have as much right to be on the air,
as someone who made a perfect score the first time. Besides, the guy or
girl who graduates dead last in medical school, is still...A DOCTOR!!
But, I might want them doing a prostate check or pelvic exam. <G>

Back to the square dancing, I don't actively dance as much as I used
to...but instead, I work behind the scenes as the Editor, Webmaster,
and Circulation Chairman for the Arkansas State Square Dance Federation (ASSDF).
We have a monthly publication called "The Modern Square", started 60
years ago. The print edition (in black and white, and much smaller
than the e-Edition) is $20 a year. The e-Edition is free, and available

release the next issue on the 15th of the month before the month of issue (March 15 for the April issue).
In working behind the scenes, "you can always get dancers, you can't
always get workers". That goes for any other hobby...too many takers,
and not enough givers. Or, they think things just happen by themselves.
As for the BBS, it's the longest running BBS in Arkansas. While during
times of thunderstorms (it's our tornado season now <sigh!>), or needed repairs, the system is down, it turns 30 on May 1.
