I'm wondering if anyone here is running the old door game 'The Pit'?
The author passed away recently. (RIP) he also made a pretty cool
football door game as well.

Didn't know about the football door though. Not a fan of the sport particularly but a fan of his work so probably warrants checking it out.

That is sad news Charles. The Pit is a fun game for sure. i play it on Danger Bay BBS. Do you know anything more about the author?

Yup. Run it at The Wastelands BBS.
Definitely one of my favourite door games of all time for sure.
Although he died back in 1999 so it wasn't that recent.

Sad news and such a great game, The Pit...it
Charles, do you remember the name of the football game? I want to check
out. Thanks!
I'm running it here. I had a licensed copy on a 1.44MB Floppy Disk frommy
BBS days back in the 90's, but was unable to read the disk. Fortunately I was able to find another version of the game and get it back up and running. Would love to find the football game as well!
Trying to help get it setup on Door Party, but without the Reg. code it has mjor limitations. Looking for someone with a reg. 'The Pit' door,
made by the same author.

Do you know if his version is registered?
Please, let me know if you find a working registered game, and if you remember the name of the football game...

Not sure. I'll look into it.
I logged on, It's not registered. I found it on 2 other BBSes, not registered either. sucks, it's a game I really like. :(
other a basketball game from the same author. The football game the
limit is using the short pass feature, which sucks. Otherwise i'd play
it like ALL the time! --- SBBSecho 3.11-Linux

That's too bad, since I spent a lot of time reverse engineering The Pit I've come to understand that his method of registration was a different build of the unregistered version. So you can't just crack it or generate a key for it, you need to actually have a copy of the registered binary.
It's possible he did something different with those games but I'd have to get a copy of them to have a look at the internals. Sadly based on what I've seen so far, I'm not expecting much to be possible.
yes! it's unregistered I think. But guess only 5 dolars keep us out from happiness!
Scott Snella did 3 "franchise sports doors"...basketball, football,
and hockey. I've got them registered on my BBS, but haven't played them.
I wish I had more time to play more of the doorgames.
He made some really good BBS Doorgames. Do you have the source for 'The Pit'? The 2 games I was looking for keys was for the football (American) and basketball game. I remember playing them years ago and loving them! THey're on Doorparty now, but they're unregistered so it doesn't save stuff, or have all the football plays. :(

Did you pay to register them? Do you have doorparty on your BBS?
wondering if those are the same door keys I'm looking for.
I got them through Doug Rhea at bbsfiles.com -- for likely at a reduced cost from what they were originally. I don't know if he's still around, let alone his website. He has been battling stage IV cancer for awhile.
He's still around, had a couple emails back and forth a few weeks ago
when I was trying to track something down. Didn't know about the
cancer... hope he either comes out ok, or gets some fulfilling time
with those close to him. He seems a decent fellow. ===

THOSE are the ones I'm looking for (well I have them) but unregistered they are a little crippled. I used to play them and have them on my BBS back in the 90's. really liked them a lot

Contact Doug Rhea -- most Sysops are frugal cheapskates, and I registered a whole slew of doors through his website.

Thanks for the info. I never had a problem registering doors back in
the 'good ole days'. Even more so NOW even just to show the author(s)
we STILL appriciate the work and joy they gave us
I just found my original Pit disks sent to me, they are on 5-1/4"
