He *did* mention that he would be on a vacation around this time. Btw, Telegram recently announced that there has been a substantial increase in new accounts in the last few days. Gee, I wonder what's going on! Lol

Yes, Telegram got millions of new users recently and they passed 500 Million users. This was because Whatsapp announced an update of their policy/license, enabling them to share information with their mother company facebook...

Even over here in Europe you see an increase, even though the new policy/license doesn't apply here because of our privacy laws.

If that was the case, and it became known, whatsapp could just as well close right away, because even more users would leave than is the case now...

There were some incoming connections from his system, so my outbound is almost empty. But outbound connections still get a: "Connection refused"

At the time it was believed one woman was killed that day, now I believe the number is 4. In any case, Trump was not successful in his support of these people, and President Biden is now in office.

There has actually been interest in alternative social networks/chat programs for a while. The Capitol Incident just brought it into the forefront of people'sattention.

While you are correct, any thing done over Telegram isn't Telegrams fault, other than being the communication platform used. If you look back some
years, wasn't there similar blame thrown towards Twitter or one of them for ISIS recruitment and messages on their (more public) service?

The difference here being that Telegram claims to be totally encrypted and
not on central servers anywhere, so they can't access content of messages.

I have a relative, that I thought stupidly announced of FB a few months ago that he and his wife were taking a weekend trip somewhere, shortly after many posts and photos of their new house were shared.

When I questioned the wisdom of such actions, his reply was that the home wouldn't be empty, their two sons and the hunting rifles would be there.

Now while I have no reason to doubt that the young men know proper handling
of those weapons and could defend themselves is needed, why in the hell publically announce something that coukd potentially put them in the
situation of needing to?
