I get this also in my 64bit Ubuntu system. However, it works ok in
32bit Raspberry PI Ubuntu. Seems to be a 64bit problem, just like with jamnntpd. :(

in the makesg file add -m32 after the gcc. You may need to apt install gcc-multilib
This seems to make it work on a 64 bit sysyem.

are you kidding ?, you have precompiled 32bit elf that breaks 64bit
host then
Compiling the source as is, the soupgate doesnt work on 64 bit. So forcing a 32bit compile makes it work. I am not a programmer so struggling to find the cause

maybe just some stupid 32bit only make file is the problem ?
do not make such fails if you plan to make things work, hope the developper have red ears now

ah, fair, then you must remove the options for 32bit only builds
-m32 is a bad one in a -m64 host compiler
