Damn! Sorry to hear this. Ruben was one of three (myself included) sysops who still ran Spitfire! BBS up until its kill switch brought the fun to an end on Jan 1 2025. RIP my friend!

The name sounded familiar. So I went searching for him in the nodelist lookup ->facility and for whatever reason (probably my own doing) I failed to locate ->his
name. hence the question.
Today it works and I see several entries. Mesquite TX.
I never wined about his handle.

I know what you meant, I also know what you wrote and a spell checker would not have made a difference ... "wining" would not have been
flagged.
Aw c'mon, Lee, this was just a humorous interjection ... not the end of the world.
Just enjoy the word play ...

Yes, and a really cool guy. (yes, old message).
In the case of old messages, perhaps check if someone already
provided an answer because otherwise this is pretty useless..

Or you could just mind your business and move on rather than ragging on anyone and everyone that posts anything to FN_SYSOP.
And you could use a proper FTN editor, rather than a hopelessly outdated Usenet ditto that addresses a comment to All rather than to the actual writer.

And you are perfectly capable of documenting that dictatorship?Yes, 31 years in power, while making your own rules.
Also the 2 cases where I was taken to court over Fido matters and won?How can this justify your dictatorship? Unrelated to this conversation.
You are aware how Fidonet came together to crowd-fund my legal bills?
Even Janis Kracht?
Let me get rid of this sillusion of yours ... there is 'no' power in Fidonet. Only resposabilities.Correct. But when you fail to fulfill your responsibilities under the Fidonet policy, what is that called?

Correct. But when you fail to fulfill your responsibilities under the Fidonet policy, what is that called?
Should I remind you how you refused to respond to the illegal excommunication appeal back in the 90s and simply let things slide? Do
you know that at least a dozen users - left Fidonet because of your negligence related to this case?
That sounds about right. He should have been re-elected years ago.the Fidonet policy, what is that called?I'd call it "dereliction of duty".

Actually, Ward - hold on. I wasn't familiar with the HH Belgium case, and there isn't much information online, but it closely mirrors my situation with Alex Barinov (N5020C) and my excommunication from Z2, where you refused my appeal and sided with the regional authority in Russia.
Would you be interested in filing another lawsuit? This time it would be
in the United States - you'd need to fly here, and legal fees could
exceed several thousand dollars.
I'd call it "dereliction of duty".That sounds about right. He should have been re-elected years ago.
totally useless to deal with formal complaint appeal-case where theI know - you'd simply let people go without figuring out what happened. That's Ward's style of dealing with problems: just ignore them. Do you think that's a strong leadership position?
2) Fidonet history tracks do not list you in the nodelist in theI just Googled "Fidonet nodelist history," clicked the first link (https://nodehist.fidonet.org.ua), and found:
1990-ies
:and you needed some 30 years to speak out?No. I brought it up multiple times. In our last fight, Janis pretty much told Barinov to go f**k himself and denied his requests to delist me in Z1, saying: "We don't do things like this here."
That sounds about right. He should have been re-elected years ago.Actually once elected and twice re-elected. So that satisfies your request.
why not check your Z1C mate who makes fun of all the nodelist flags on othernets and ruining the fidonet nodelist with his friends... just because because its funny to troll the "nodelist police"+Ward... i think its
You want new exciting things to be produced?Yes, I will write my own software. Thank you for the advice. My question was: what have you done - like asking the public to help to develop a software to improve something? But getting an answer from you is as hard as improvising. Forget about it. Ward doesn't change.

not everyone is a software developer. you can develop anything forI agree, but all it takes is an effort to find a development team. No one has ever inquired about it, this is how the degradation started.

bought that fur hat with the insignia of Ukrainian air defenses. ThatVery interesting story, do you still have this shield? =)
was 1997 ... 28 years ago. Dirt cheap ...
was a mind boggling realisation how well we have it in the west...Indeed. Russians never cared about their own people.
Very interesting story, do you still have this shield? =)
And suddenly that hat and the shield have meaning in today's world. And it means a lot to me too. Since you didn't throw it away, means that you don't support Russians.

I still don't understand why you didn't exclude R50 from Fidonet, where
95% of the people are Nazis and supporting the war.
I wish I could have a drink with you to tell you what happened with my excommunication case. You would most likely find similarities with the Ukrainian war.
We're not going to have a war imported here ... it happened previouslyWell spoken and mighty fine.
and I'd appreciate it not to happen anymore. We are sysops united by a hobby.
Shall we kick the USA because some don't like Trump? Or Canada because there are french speaking people there?Trump hasn't invaded any countries (yet), and the U.S. wasn't labeled a state sponsor of terrorism - unlike Russia by the EU.
Go get a life please ...My life is great, and I will not live it in ignorance like you.
