is there a patch or update for golded to be able to reliably read synchronet's
message base??
I have gotten golded to read sbbs message base but, the message base has allot
of holes. lots of missing headers
also, anyone know of a way to read mystic's areas and genterate an areasfile
that golded can read??

Yes.
Areafile Synchronet /sbbs/

that part of *seeing* the message base works, what does not work is *reading* the *headers*, (ie press enter on an area, then press l,
you'll see some headers, then blank spaces, then more headers) that's
why I was asking

"l" for me lists messages. Is that what you're referring to? If so,
maybe threading is broken between the two?
DigitalMan/Rob Swindell has submitted patches for Golded in the past
in order to help it work better with Synchronet. However, I'm unsure
if those patches were ever actually added to the official sources. If
not, Rob may still have them so you can patch Golded yourself, but I
can't guarantee it will fix your current issue(s). ;)

The patches I made were uploaded here: https://sourceforge.net/p/golded-plus/patches/
And it appears they've been applied to the latest GoldEd+ sources.

I just updated, it did fix the echomail areas, though my dovenet areas
have the issue... is there a way to compact/re-number dovenet areas??
I suspect its something to do with the fact that get several VERT.qwk.5ec1aed5.bad packets in my /sbbs/data folder
sbbs itself does not show an issue, neither does mystic - I get dovenet via sbbs & mystic gets it from sbbs
did you READ the subject?? this is *ONLY* a problem with *synchronet*
JAM areas work great, in my various setups,
I have HPT, & also mystic.. the only setup I have problems with is *synchronet*
