Exactly... to say nothing of leaving one vulnerable... Richard used to
turn off his computer at work when he left for the night... As I recall,
the company IT weren't all that happy with him, but he felt it better
and safer... :)

Well, IT guys are usually easily upset anyway. :)
I have never understood people leaving the monitor and modem on after
the pc is shut down.
