From Rick Smith@1:340/202.1 to All on Wed Nov 11 07:56:54 2020
    Greetings All!

Ive decided to explore the old days and run maximus again or atleast see if I can... I am trying to build the linux variety and run into this error..

Warning: could not find install_tree. Did you forget to unpack max-3.03-etc.tar.gz?

Now I have downloaded the src twice and unpacked it twice using different methods and install_tree never presents itself? Suggestions?

go to releases and download the file:

    https://github.com/sdudley/maximus/releases/download/v3_03b/max-3.03-etc.tar.gz

AFAIK it's not needed for building, only for "make install".

Maximus on Linux would be fun to see. I ran Max for DOS for most of
my dial-up years. Is the new code Y2K compliant out of the box?

compat is a lib that should be build by the make script before it's linked: ../unix/libcompat.so

I forgot how I build squish, so let's start from scratch...

[/me waiting for the build to finish...]

Sorry, I cannot reproduce it. libcompat.so is build by "make squish" on my machine. Maybe it's a 64-bit problem? I'm building the fidonet stuff on my 32-bit Raspberry (Debian 10). I'm also not sure if I ever managed to build maximus (the bbs) correctly. I never tested the BBS part, only the squish tosser.

Thanks for trying... I am the opposite I want the BBS not the tosser...
