I was born and raised in Detroit and have a great love for the Motown sound. We are
currently staying in the Detroit area for another week or two and decided that it was
time for us to finally visit the Museum. What an amazing adventure!

We learned a lot about the evolution of Motown under Barry Gordy, who is now 95 years
old and retired. He was very good about rounding up talent no matter what race, creed
    or ethnicity they were.

He ended up purchasing 8 more buildings as the business grew. People from this area
included Martha Reeves, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, and Aretha
Franklin. What a great and talented group of neighbors!

The tour included Barry's home which is the main building for 'Hitsville USA'. The
basement was Studio A, where every hit was recorded from the period of 1959 - 1972.

The upstairs is where Barry resided. The was a kitchen where everyone would eat, and
the dining table was their 'shipping department'.

He went on to produce TV and movies. The 'Hitsville USA' building has been dedicated
as a national landmark and will never be torn down.

    Loved it!
