I found a solution to my question... Open source program called ventoy will make a USB boot and have SEVERAL ISOs on it...

    That will not work.

There are instructions -inside- the ArcaOS ISO that explains how to make
a bootable USB stick from Windows, Linux, and OS/2. I've done it under
Win11 and Devuan Linux. Never had an issue with the creation of the
    boot stick.

It requires a unique boot environment and ArcaOS must be on its own USB
stick. It does not work in the way Ventoy expects. I have a 128GB USB
stick with Ventoy with a modified Win11 ISO and ISOs for FreeDOS, Devuan
Linux, and FreeBSD on it and it works great.

I'm using ArcaOS 5.0.8 now and hoping to upgrade to 5.1 soon.

Again, all the information is available for you inside the Arca ISO and,
like Daniel pointed out, on the ArcaOS wiki.

A word of caution: Arca Noae recommends to not install ArcaOS on newer
Dell computers and absolutely do not attempt to put on Acer computers.

I'll go back and review ArcaOS's notes on it. There was a refurbished HP... not really new but it had an RS232 port on it ... I wanted to pull out my US Robotics modem and play around.

If I were to add this to a "new" computer I was looking at one of these mini PCs that are out...

Anyway, thank for the heads up.

    Hi Joe,

You shouldn't have a problem with most HPs but I'd stay away from those mini PCs as they have a lot of lower-end hardware that AOS won't support well.

Remember that OS/2 was designed to be very picky about the hardware it supported and it is still that way today. A lot of the "new" drivers are either ported from ALinux, or in the case of NIC drivers, Windows drivers in OS/2 wrappers. I have had very poor results with Broadcom-based NICs. I
have an Intel PRO/1000 NIC in the upcoming HP-based BBS system and I've had good results with that.

My recommendation is to stick with an older Intel-based chipset for the best success. Of course, experimentation is always an experience with OS/2 these days but AN are trying to get AOS to run on more and more modern equipment.
For me, just running a BBS and my fixed income limits me to older hardware
but I can usually find equipment cheaply or even for free that does the job.

Let us know how it goes for you! Good luck.

I'll need it... I was at the ArcaOS website a week or so ago going through that how to install on a... That's what lead me to what I currently did. I downloaded DFSee to see if I can get things rolling.

    I'm not confident...

The only way to be confident is to do it. Take your time and if you get frustrated, stop for a while and come back refreshed. Installing OS/2 has never been an easy process but when you do install it, it's very stable.
