I recently upgraded to 3.21. Since the upgrade, my ../text/menu/logon.asc(ans) files have stopped displaying at login.
I poked around in ../repo/text and didn't see anything that screamed "replacement" for those files.
Have the names changed since 3.20a?

The stock/default logon screens were renamed to random*.msg, but support for text/logon* was not removed - they should still display fine.

Don't think so. I have logon1.asc , logon2.asc , and logon3.asc , and
they display in order as expected.

Mine are in ../text/menu and were displaying before. Should they be in ../text instead? I will try that in the meantime and see what happens.

Hmmmm.... mine are *not* numbered. Maybe that is it. I will do some testing with that and see if it fixes it. Thanks!
Dumb question... if you have a logon1 and a logon2, does the system display them in that order every time a user connects, or does it randomize them?
Just FYI, I tried this, and also tried something based on what Gamgee posted, and still no dice. It is as if the logon.asc/ans files no longer exist (although I can see them).

How are you logging in? If you use fast-login, for example (placing a '!' at the begging of your login ID), logon screens aren't displayed.
See exec/logon.js for more details.

They are displayed in that order every time. I've removed any
'random.*' files.

Not using fast login.
On the "main" system, I am logging in with SSH. I just tried it via telnet and the logon screen doesn't display.
On the "test" system, I am logging in via telnet with the matrix. It maybe didn't display there before, I cannot remember, but I thought it did.

Once upon a time, I actually would go in and make some minor mods to some
of the ssjs files as I could follow the logic. Looking over this file here, you might as well be asking me to translate ancient Greek. :)

Is it possible you just have the logon*.msg file in the wrong directory?

You mentioned a matrix. Does this matrix possibly bypass logon.js, or use it's
own logon process that doesn't display logon* or random* files?

They are called logon.asc and ans, not msg, here. That worked with
3.20a but maybe that has changed?
They reside in ../text/menu but, since this issue started, I have also copied them into ../text and they still don't display.

Did you change your logon module (configured in SCFG->System->Loadable Modules
by chance? Or maybe you have a modified logon.js being run (e.g. mods/logon.js
instead of the normal/stock exec/logon.js?
I logged on via telnet, and then used the syncterm scrollback feature. logon.a?? *IS* displaying, but it is going by so fast (and without pausing!) that I don't see it. Sorry I didn't think of using that feature before.
I checked and I do still have "Screen Pause: On" set in my user profile.
For some reason, that pause between logon.asc/ans and Bullseye is no longer happening. So, the screens are displaying but not really.
