• SBBS snapshot upgrade?

From Electrosys@1:103/705 to All on Thu May 14 10:34:26 2020
Is there a snapshot version of Synchronet that I can use to update to a later version?

I'm not building SBBS yet, so I'm wondering if there is an upgrade path to upgrade SBBS to a development version?

    Thanks,
    Electrosys

..But wait, if I do an update now will the snapshot include your changes to bat_xfer.cpp? Has a new snapshot been created already?

Actually it looks like the snapshot is from 5am this morning. So I'll wait until tomorrow morning.

Ahh actually I do see the update to DOSXTRN.EXE. Does that exe file include your change?

Yes, sbbs_dev.zip was built/archived at 5AM today (PDT).

Which change are you referring to? DOSXTRN.EXE is part of the Virtual UART/FOSSIL driver, so nothing to do with batch uploads.

I updated to the lastest snap shot. The first thing I noticed was that the sbbsctrl program is more responsive. Also it seems the terminal server is significatly more responsive.

    eight6_test1.txt
    eight6_test2.txt

This certainly fixed my problem with the file system. I was even able to go back and set the "Check for Duplicates" to Yes and It all works as expected as I was able to upload both files. I tested with both Check for Duplicates Yes and No and it works as expected in both cases.

    Couple questions.

1.) My system information file was overwritten, can this file go into my custom digiaqua (based off of the renegade clone) menu so that it doesn't get overwritten in the future?

2.) The /L list nodes command is completly unstyled now. Its just plain black and white and I lost the green and white styling that it had even though I did not customize this part of the system. How do I restore this? Also note that my [W]ho's online command and [/L]ist Nodes commands both have the same exact behavior, previously they had slightly different behavior.

3.) A couple of the main menu commands stopped working, do you know off the top of your head what happened?

I get errors when accessing the following commands

    Bulletins
    List of Callers

    !ERROR opening c:\sbbs\exec\text_sec.bin
    !ERROR opening c:\sbbs\exec\logonlist.bin

    Just to note:
The files that were previously not listed in the terminal, the ones that should have had the ~2 appended for lfn, still are not listed but this is probably not a problem. My guess, without investigating is that these files simply need to be re-uploaded, with addfiles or otherwise.

Thanks for the update, its pretty slick so far!

    Awesome. Thanks for the feedback!

    Couple questions.

1.) My system information file was overwritten, can this file go into my custom digiaqua (based off of the renegade clone) menu so that it doesn't get overwritten in the future?

You mean test/system.msg? It won't normally be in the directory you set to SET_MENU_DIR, but if you put it in "menu" it should be found if you previously called "SET_MENU_DIR subdir". It sounds like you overwrote your sbbs/text directory which is not a normal part of the update process.

2.) The /L list nodes command is completly unstyled now. Its just plain black and white and I lost the green and white styling that it had even though I did not customize this part of the system. How do I restore this?

Maybe you didn't update your exec directory? Check the revision of exec/nodelisst.js

Also note that my [W]ho's online command and [/L]ist Nodes commands both have the same exact behavior, previously they had slightly different behavior.

    Same answer as above.

3.) A couple of the main menu commands stopped working, do you know off the top of your head what happened?

    Bulletins
    List of Callers

    !ERROR opening c:\sbbs\exec\text_sec.bin
    !ERROR opening c:\sbbs\exec\logonlist.bin

It sounds like you you don't have exec/text_sec.js and exec/logonlist.js, so you missed a step in the update process.
