  • Odd characters in email

    I received an smtp email from one of my users and rather than new lines, I get " "Couldn't even begin to say what the problem is. I'm using SyncTerm.Let's see if we can figure this out as to what's causing it and how I fix it.Thanks.

    I'd use smbutil to try reading the message and then maybe get a hex dump of the body text to do see what's what.

    If I use smbutil and pipe the output to hexdump it tells me the odd characters are 0xc2 0xa0.c2a0 is UTF-8 for a non-breaking space.There's some other oddities in there. Maybe when I figure this one out the rest will work themselves out.

    Can you provide the header details of this message ("using smbutil v")?If it's appropriate flagged as UTF-8 content, then it should have been converted to CP437 or ASCII (as appropriate) automatically when viewed in the terminal server.
