Hi all,
a person with certain personal challenges but is harmless.
I understand they can be a nuisance, so I have deactivated their account for now, but I'd very much like to know what is considered appropriate for a sysop to do in such a case. I'd like to handle the situation delicately for all involved.
Thanks for your understanding and advice..

as some may have noticed, I've got a somewhat noisy user on my BBS. This is a person with certain personal challenges but is harmless.

A Synchronet sysop has more options than to "deactive an account", just give the proper user restrictions while you await their confirmation that they've learned their lesson and changed their ways. https://wiki.synchro.net/access:restrictions
Thanks for your understanding and advice..
Also, maybe you wanted the DOVE-Net Sysops Only base? I'm not sure :).

Define "noisy"? And I'm not sure I'd say they're a nuisance.. I feel like deactivating their account might be a bit extreme.
As a new sysop, I am unsure how to navigate. I don't want to step on too many toes at once..

I'm glad to hear you say that, because I don't know what people
consider "noisy". I got a message on my BBS from the Guest
account, where someone - I presume some sysop on DOVE-Net got fed
up, but of course I do not know whom.

As in, my BBS? Are you getting multiple copies of this one as well?
I have no idea what might cause multiple copies to go out. I may need to look more closely at the QWK exchange with Vert - I presume this is how the messages came your way?
If you volunteer to send me a "private" message so I can reply, and we see if the problem repeats. I'll watch and capture the QWK exchange to see if there's
anything obviously wrong.
