Howdy!,
A Friend of Mine who lives in the next County has a Acer
Chromebook. He calls (or Email's) me and asks how to do things
like:
1. How do I find Windows Games I can Play Online? - Play not
Download.
2. How do I find DOS Games I can Play Online?
3. How do I find Linux Games I can Play Online?
He know I have been playing with computers, (and getting whipped
by them) since 1984 when I bought a C=64, and considers me
his 'Tech Person' but I don't know it all, I just act like I do.
2. How do I find DOS Games I can Play Online?
Many BBSes have fine DOOR GAMES. Would that fit the bill?
How does one go BBSing on a chromebook?
I just thought to find out if there is a Live CD download
for the CHROME OS.
Hope so, then maybe I can understand what my Chromebook
friend is seeing.

I have seen some sites that offer games via Java. They work well. No download required.

The Java-based sites ought to be the same as for [1] above.

The technology often moves along a lot faster than it is possible to "know" everything.

Ed, if he can do so, he is welcome to play some of the DOS games on
this board, and he can also reach my Moe's Tavern board from here. It
has over 100 mostly text based DOS door games online.
I have seen some sites that offer games via Java. They work

My Friend may get confused if I mention Java to him..
Really, I am not knowledgeable about Java..

He isn't a BBS User.
Years ago when This BBS (CCO) could be Dial'd-Up I gave him the
phone number of the Prism BBS he could get on using Dial-Up.
He used it for a while and didn't continue calling it. That may
have been because Janis moved away from this area.
I added Your Initials to the TAGLINE that You used in a message[snip]
over in the DOVE echo.
I didn't know if You created the TAGLINE or Stole it as I did
today, but anyway I added it to my TAGLINE File with Your
Initials.

I wouldn't know if a Text Game would interest him.

He also want to be able to Download Game(s) for Windows (DOS or Linux)
and use a Emulator to Run the Game on the Chromebook.
so I asked him to look on Google Play Store to see if a Chromebook
version of a WINE type program is available there.
He said he doesn't have any luck finding any Games when he Searches for them on Google, so I told him about trying to use DuckDuckGo to see if anything different shows up.

I think you are looking for this:
https://www.neverware.com/freedownload
I don't think it's "Live". But an install in a VM might do the trick.
Overview
What you need:
20 minutes for USB installer creation.
To create the USB installer: a PC, Mac or Chromebook running the Chrome browser.
An 8GB (or greater) USB stick
BUT... it is wise to confirm compatibility with their "Certified
Models" compatibility guide. However, I do believe that the list does
not preclude you from trying it on the computer want.

Hello Ed!
Java and JavaScript are completely different things. I'll let you
research that.
Just google for "online java games" and go from there.
One place that I found worked really well is pogo.com. The last time i looked at
it was over 5 years ago. Meanwhile, they've changed the service a bit, and seems to support previously registered users only now.
This one is quick, and allows immediate play:

He isn't a BBS User.
Sounds like he has a limited understanding of BBSes. Games on BBSes
are traditional, blocky, ascii, etc.. types. Some are based on animations, some are
text-based like RPG's. But many are implemented quite nicely.
Years ago when This BBS (CCO) could be Dial'd-Up I gave him the

have been because Janis moved away from this area.
Today, we access BBSes via Telnet.

I don't think so. I think even trying to play them on the web forces
you to log on first.
I wouldn't know if a Text Game would interest him.
I know tht He likes Racing Games, Football and First Person Shooter Games.
Maybe not then. I only have one game I can think of, on Moe's, that is not mostly text based. It is an arcade game like Space Invaders. I
think it runs to slow to really be as much fun as the real thing,
though.
I did not come up with it. But it *is* a good isn't it?
I will leave the - A. A. at the end of that TAGLINE unless
You say for me to remove it.
At least now You Know I am a TAGLINE THIEF!!!!!!!!!
What does:

IIRC, using JAVA is not a good application to be used anymore.
I never heard of Reformator/Quoter B4.
What Reading Program do You use Reformator/Quoter with?
The Editor I use with MultiMail for DOS (and was used with SLMR) is the old reliable EDIT.COM .
AA> https://www.neverware.com/freedownload
That website didn't show up in a DuckDuckGo Search I did using the words:
Chrome OS Live CD
but I got over 50 URL's to look through, one of them is about making
your netbook a Chromebook.
There were many sites with Live CD for Chrome OS.
I will take a look at it before I mention it to my friend. If it
is a TEXT Game he told me today He isn't interested in the 100
or so TEXT Games on Mikes Capitol City BBS. He doesn't like Text
Games.
Yes, he isn't interested in the Technical part or wanting to
become a BBS User, he just wants to play GOOD GAMES On-Line.
He told me today he plays Pool On-Line and won TWO sessions of
Pool of the many he played today.

I just tried it.
It is nothing but OpenSUSE with an added Chromium browser. The desktop
is branded with a familiar Google Chrome logo. At bootup, it launches
the Chromium browser prepopulated with familiar google products.
I do NOT think this will help in your preparedness for learning about a Chromebook.
The OpenSUSE build is 12.2 (from around 2012?) ..I had trouble
accessing some updates to install specific "action" games. Even so,
those games would likely only be designed around linux OpenSUSE anyway.
For an up to date experience with OpenSUSE, it would be best to grab
the latest version and play with that in Live CD mode if you want. But the environment is NOT anything like a Chromebook.

How did the play with CHROME OS go? Was it anything like you
expected? Are you using it as a solution on any particular PC?
