Hi folks, posted this in the Synchro Fido Echo but I am posting it here also. I woke up this morning and my account has been deleted on my SynchroNet board, I tried to use the User Editor, but it says that the data file can't be opened. Cannot open c:\sbbs\data\user/user.dat. Any way to fix this?
Never seen that happen. I wonder why your #1 user got deleted?
Can you restore that user in uedit?

That's the only account with access to UEDIT. It shows me in the User Editor on the main screen as deleted but because of that data error I can't edit the account..
Question.. do you have an SBBSCTRL environment variable set, either in your environment or sbbs.ini, and it it set correctly?

There is a sbbsctrl variable set as CTRLDIRECTORY=C:\sbbs\ctrl\
If that is what you mean..
I tried a backup and it didn't change anything..

I've never heard of that but that may be a windows thing and it does
point to where my SBBSCTRL environment points to, so I think that's good.

OK, I think you should wait for advice from Digital Man.
I'm at a loss here.
Thanks for trying to help out Al, I ended up restoring backups from the other day.. I was able to get on and set up another account in case it happens again.. I did test it again and it still gives the error from the Control Panel but ;UEDIT works... Like I told Digital Man, IMO it's not the user.dat that is the issue, it has to be something in the useredit program.. ANyways.. I'm back online for now at least.. LOL
Re: Re: Synchro Deleted my account
Have you used ;uedit from the BBS or command line to edit your user?
Users will be deleted if they don't call in (how much time you have set for Maximum days of inactivity) but I can't think of any other reason a user account would be deleted.
