Just wondering if anyone has installed a fan into the C64 bread case..
if so where? I'd think that just a small fan would do the trick.
I know the suggestion is to add heat sinks
but I thought about taking it one step further to ensure proper air
flow.
Perhaps wire it to a switch maybe. I think the powersupply should be
able to handle an extra 5v. Thoughts?

Absolutely pointless from my point of view!
If you have a breadbin it makes slightly more sense ...
CU, Ricsi
... Roses are green, violets are pink... Hey, the walls are melting
Really. I think the thought is because the chips were made of poor material and well, heat would affect the operation and longevity.Just wondering if anyone has installed a fan into the C64bread case. No, and I absolutely see 0 need for it. Absolutely

Heat sinks should do the trick though.
Very early PLAs and VIC chips (from early breadbins) have some heat deterioration issues that I heard from.
*I* did not hear from many issues with later devices.Right.
But adding heatsinks to PLA and VIC and maybe others is a cheap way to reassure
To be honest you should check your power supply.Actually, I did replace the power supply, its one of those new ones which
I have heared much more often from failing power supplies that ruin you computer, then from chips that overheat.
Or the way that I went.
Go for an ultimate64.
It is maybe not the purist choice and definitely not cheap, but for me worth its weight in gold!
(+ you can use a standard 9V supply and have HDMI and USB ;)
It is basically an FPGA mainboard replacement.
