It's odd enough to me that it keeps its formatting (italic, etc.) in Agent,
but it totally blow my mind that even when copied into Notepad, it STILL
keeps the formatting! How is this possible? I've always used Notepad as a go-between when wanting to strip formatting from text.

The copy/paste buffer has multiple representations stored in it.

The applications at either end, have to decide which one they will use.

If you have some sort of copy/paste manager application installed
on the computer, the formats stored might even be viewable, and
by removing representations you don't like, it may be possible
to trick Notepad into using the right one :-) See ? Aren't computers
    easy to use ?

Those characters “with formatting” are not ASCII characters. They are Unicode.

To even see those characters as themselves in Forté Agent, you must be
using a full Unicode rendering which does not come with Forté Agent out
of the box. If not, Agent would show you question marks instead.

go-between when wanting to strip formatting from text.

Windows Notepad will keep those Unicode characters, unless you are
    running in Windows 95/98/Me.
