    I'm not sure what you're looking at. I'm seeing, and replying to, an
    article posted to the comp.os.vms newsgroup on Usenet. That's not a
    mailing list.

    I've resorted to filtering Google Groups from my personal / private news server.

    Do you by chance have the comp.os.vms Usenet newsgroup being gatewayed
    to a private mailing list?

    If you truly are working with a mailing list, I might suggest
    configuring it to moderate all non-subscribers.

    But you are likely going to run into problems with both legitimate
    messages posted to comp.os.vms from Usenet as well as ne'erdowell(s)
    that are sparying many Usenet newsgroups with spam.

    comp.os.vms has been gatewayed to a mail-list INFO-VAX since
    forever (sometime back in the 1980's).
