    Oh on iPhone 13.

I figured out a workaround. I had banner alerts shut off, which I prefer.
When I turned this feature on I get a banner alert and sound. Uggg! I guess
it works for now. Seems a bug affecting me after upgrade to iOS17.

To counteract this workaround I had to customize Do Not Disturb in ways I
never did before or else text sounds would disturb the peace when locked.
Uggh again. But I think with my tweaks I got it the way I want it.
Hopefully an update fixes this from default. Weird.

nospam says you can easily revert back to iOS 16 and confirm it's a new
    bug.

    Not going to do that.

But you'll need an apple mac to do that, right?

    nope.

either a mac or windows pc will work perfectly fine, as outlined in the
    links i posted.

So far Jörg is the only actual participant on this thread trying to be helpful. The rest are just reflexively bickering.

I also noticed that Do Not Disturb does not silence phone calls now unless
you specify Phone under Silence Notifications from Phone under Do Not
    Disturb settings.

You would think switching to Allow Notifications From and not whitelisting anything would do the same thing, but no! Maybe I’m missing something.

Glad I figured how to circumvent whatever glitch seems to be happening on
my iPhone 13 after upgrading to iOS 17.
