• ios 17 chsnged default notification sound

From badgolferman@21:1/5 to All on Wed Oct 18 01:54:28 2023
iOS 17 changed the default notification sound and it really sucks. I can
barely hear it, if at all. I’ve tried to find the setting to change it but
it doesn’t exist. Apparently this is something others are complaining about too. If someone knows how to change it please let us know.

Same for the sound from automations. You can't hear them unless
you hold the phone to your ear. A very short and weak chirp,
maybe 20 ms long, if that. I have good hearing too.

This update is a real turd as far as sounds go.

I've looked through any settings even remotely related and
found nothing to make these functions useful again.

    My goodness! You have problems!
There are dozens of sounds you can choose from for this purpose!

You obviously didn’t read your own article or as usual your reading comprehension of what I wrote is lacking.

Let’s try again. How do you change the default notification *sound* in iOS 17?

Nope. These are available. It is the *default* sound when a third party app gives a notification. Did you look at the link I provided in the original
    post?

Never mind him, I'm surprized no one else here seems to care about the
default notification sound being virtually silent now. There's no good
reason for Apple to change that from Tritone to Redoubt. At the very
least they should provide an option to change it. How hard would that
    have been?

I'm thinking one of the comments in the link I provided is true. The
Apple developers walk around all day with AirPods on and they didn't
like the sound so they changed it to something imperceptible so it
doesn't disturb their podcasts and music.

Personally, I haven't noticed. But then I keep my phone muted 99.9% of
the time, wear an Apple Watch, and view my notifications on the phone
only a handful of times a day.

There's no good reason for Apple to change that from Tritone to

    Maybe.
