• iPhone 16 battery test: 100% @ noon on Friday

From Alan@21:1/5 to All on Fri Dec 13 11:45:56 2024
    OK... ...11:44am.

I got a new iPhone on Wednesday. My old iPhone 8 really needed replacing
after more than 6 years. So I got myself a new iPhone 16.

And after getting the phone set up with the ease provided by the
facility built in to iOS (while I had lunch), my battery was at 100% at
about 2pm on Wednesday. I used it all the rest of the day, and all of
Thursday until I went to bed and the phone was still at 34% when I went
    to bed at 12:30am.

18 hours on 66% of the available battery.

So I'm curious how "inferior" my new iPhone's really is.

It's 11:44am on Friday, and I've just unplugged my iPhone from the
    charging cable.

I'll report back what the percentage is at 11:44am tomorrow, and I'll
report again when the iPhone demands that it be plugged in.

    Well, first update:

It's 8 hours later and the iPhone 16 is now at 83%...

...so about 2% per hour usage.

That would suggest about 50 hours on a single charge.

My iPhone 14 is even better.

    battery charge remaining.

83% battery used over 47 hours, is about 1.75% per hour.

    charging it every other night.

Completely useless information. You do not understand anything about
battery management, energy consumption of a smartphone depending on configuration etc. etc.

You should have added at least the analysis of the energy consumption.

    Lord let rain some brain!

I'm an ordinary smartphone user reporting on ordinary performance.

It's running on about 2% per hour when I'm awake.

This is to be expected. My iPhone 14 was pretty much the same as yours
when new. Two years later the battery capacity is at 85% and the loss
    of stamina is noticeable.

And normal usage differs between people. For some it may be hours of
online games or social nedia sites with videos. For others it may be
just checking text messages and a few phone calls. Then there is the
issue of being connected to WiFi or having a crappy cell signal. All
these factors affect the battery usage significantly.

After two years, pretty much any phone's battery will be showing its age.

And of course there are lots of factors.

I tend to use my phone quite a lot with social media apps and the like,
so make of it what you will.

My point is actually that any phone's (any device's) battery size must
be viewed in relation to how much power it draws.

Something that your buddy Andrew/Arlen hasn't figured out yet.
