Neither Taiwan nor PRC regard themselves as separate countries.
Saying that is fighting words. The eventual hope is that they
will find a peaceful way to reunite under a single government.

Maybe, but the prospect of the CCP disbanding and democracy coming to the mainland are pretty slim, and Taiwan sees how the CCP honored its agreement with
the U.K. regarding Hong Kong.
