Why do you think Democrats treated humans as slaves, becauseThat's brutal, but there's a kernel of truth in it. sadly.
Democrats see anyone who isn't a Democrat as cattle/slaves to be
controlled and managed by Democrats.
It's not Democrats that're plugging up the hospital ICUs, it's
Republicans and conservatives, as well as Qanons.

This is a common game that modern day Republicans like to play. It's so obviously BS, but it is amazing how much traction they still manage to get out of it.
The game to which I refer is to pretend that because the Democrats *were*
the bad guys (literally, the party of slavery) in the 19th century, that we can now tag them as the bad guys today. Totally ignoring the fact that in the early-to-mid 20th century, the parties swapped positions and the Republicans (who truly *had* been the good guys - i.e., the party of non-slavery) became the bad guys (the party of slavery, which they still
are today).
The people who were of the mindset to be in the Democratic party in the
19th century are today in the Republican party.
The story of exactly how-and-why the US parties swapped positions is
actually a bit more complex than I've implied so far - and doesn't fit
nicely on a business card - but the basics are close enough. As they say, close enough for government work...
