Not motorcycles, but bicycles... what name brand would you recommend for
biking for about 30 minutes. I have a Mongoose that's falling apart. It's
my only transportation. Would you suggest a bmx our mountain bike?

    Hey Cr1mson,

Did you end up getting a new bike?

I have a TREK myself.. it has those 200cc size tires.. they call it a hybrid roadbike/mountain bike. It's capabilities would be challenged on all rough terrain but its fantastic for the road. Very fast too. I think because of the slick thin tires. I'm pretty happy with the way it shifts and all. The big feature this bike has is all disc brakes, stops on a dime in a rain storm. As for winter rides. I did get tires that have studs but keeping traction and not slipping on ice is the least of the worries. If its slushy out, the water freezes the derailer and cable ends so your stuck changing gears. That's fun.

To answer your question-- mountain bike.

Yeah, another moutain bike, like mongoose, same gears and brakes and all that... except I ran over something and got to patch the tire. Probably going to get a patch kit sometime to fix it. When I was putting together I stripped the left pedal grooves so it won't attach properly, so I'll might take the other pedal off the old broken down bike and put it on the new one if I can. Haven't really rode it much, on top of that I gotta fix the position of the brakes as I don't think they're attached tightened up. This all is partially because I didn't have the right tools... not too good with mechanical things, but I try...

You sound like you got a great bike. Probably got the money worth from it.

Nice. I think thats the best way to go. If you think about riding in the winter, should get a beater bike. Oh yes, the ol' hole in the tire. I got so tired of that happening, I bought extra duty tubes for my mountain bike I had way back. It could be an option for you. The tube never got another hole again. I had problems with stripping the threads on the pedal.. it happens. I think the bike shop rebored it. I can kinda do things with the bike but anything major, off the mechanic.

You sound like you got a great bike. Probably got the money worth from it.
It is yes. I mean, there were others far more expensive. I was going to go with a more basic but I was urged that spending up would be better. Having said that, I had to purchase 2 decent bike locks which keep my bike safe locked up in dodgy areas.

Sadly, I have only rode my bike 4 times this year :/ With working at home and exercise mainly walking I don't use the bike as much.

Do you have a helmet? I got one last year. It's purple with jumping kitties on it. Gotta look fashionable when you're out there.

    Stay safe-- /)arkman /\lmighty
