I changed the date of "old messages" to 180...they were
    originally set at 30.

And, Jon is right...I've had other things in life outside
the BBS that have lessened the amount of time I can spend
with it...except for updating weather and ham radio data.

The bad thing is not logging on for a few days, makes for

    Hi Daryl,

    Hi, Jon...

Hopefully things are getting a little better, if not more. There
are days I don't feel up to par myself. Thanks for continuing to
moderate some of the echoes like Jokes, Spirituality and Radio.

First, I enjoy doing that. Second, this is going to be a long reply. :P

I was involved in a multi-vehicle wreck on Jan. 7 -- my first wreck
in over 40 years (not too bad a driving record <G>). I was hit in the
right rear by a pickup truck hauling a trailer. I spun out of control,
across traffic, and was hit by a car on the right front. Then, both
vehicles that hit me, hit head on, and took out a utility pole. I was
able to drive the damaged car (a 2004 Buick LeSabre) off the road into
the parking lot of a Shell Superstop, and avoided getting hit again.
My airbags didn't deploy, but they did in the other vehicles. The
roads were wet, with light rain, with a temperature of 40 degrees.

I got out of my car, shaking from all the adrenaline, and had to use
my disability walker for support. Both the Verizon and T-Mobile cell
phones had trouble getting a call through to 911...but, they called me
back, and I told them what had occurred...they said "help was on the
way". They sent a batallion chief from a nearby fire station, plus 2
police cars and 2 ambulances. I was unhurt, but have been undergoing chiropractic care since Jan. 8.

One driver was ambulatory to a local hospital, but another driver
    refused treatment...as did I, as I didn't think I was hurt. However,
the chiropractor said that with these type of wrecks, injuries don't
show up for a few days...he was right. Since I was hit first, I was
not at fault in the wreck.

The Buick LeSabre was totaled out, but Allstate wouldn't grant me
the total loss claim until I sent the title. It wasn't in the bank
vault, but in the glove compartment instead. That is the WORST PLACE
to have it...as if the car gets stolen, the thieves can sell it. I
thought I might only get $1000 for it...but I got nearly $5300. With
some money I had in the bank after my Mom's death a year and a half
ago (earlier this month marked 14 years since my Dad's death), I found
a Volvo 2 door hardtop convertible at a longtime family dealership,
that now deals exclusively in pre-owned vehicles. I paid $9950 for
    it. Volvos are apparently very reliable, and rarely need repairs;
but when they do, they are expensive.

I was taking Uber back and forth ($40 a day) to the doctor, and
other errands...so the Volvo helped. Eight days after I bought it,
I took the title, property tax assessment, and the handicapped
license plate and hangtag, to the Revenue Office. Ironically, I had
assessed the Buick 2 hours before the wreck!! I had to pay $729 to
the State Of Arkansas in Sales Tax. But, it was to take 8-10 weeks
    for that title to arrive.

Two days later, I took the Volvo back for "routine servicing", but
after 2 weeks, I found out that there were some "back ordered parts",
and they didn't know when they would arrive. I thought "Well, it's back
    to Uber!!".

So, the dealership did an exchange, giving me a 2013 Chevrolet
Cruze 4 door sedan, which I like better. It has more room in the
trunk, and inside, a sunroof, heated seats (one can get "hot cross
buns" if one isn't careful <G>), and a backup camera (I'll get
    spoiled on that).

Yet, I have to wait until the title for the Volvo shows up, then
I'll take that back to the dealership, who'll give me a new title.
Then, I have to re-assess the Chevrolet Cruze, but shouldn't have
to pay any new sales taxes at the Revenue Office...and I can then
renew online. At least they'll extend my temporary tags, if need be.

But, on the way to the chiropractor yesterday, I must've run over
a nail, as the warning sensor for the right front tire went off.
After the chiropractic appointment, I drove to the Buick place that
had serviced the Buick LeSabre, but they said they could work on a
Chevrolet. I told them I wanted the tires changed out, with the
Lifetime Protection Guarantee on them (this way, if anything happens
to the tire, I only pay a $15 replacement fee)...plus to check all
    the electronics and fluids.

With the ice storm Arkansas had last night and this morning (Feb.
10-11), and the forecast of two significant snowstorms here next
week, I likely won't go out again until Feb. 22. I hate to miss
over a week of chiropractic care; but even they closed today, due
to icy roads in the area. I have 2 appointments scheduled the week
of Feb. 22, but I likely will call to reschedule them for March.

With all the crap around the wreck, and now the winter weather, I
have been lucky to logon just to do QWK Mail...I haven't played any
of the doors since last year.

... What do you mean, QWK?? It took me over an hour to read!!

    That's a good one! :)

I added the BBS Ads echoes, just to see some traffic. In several
networks, I want to see if it's more than just autoposts...and I'm
looking to zap several networks by March (WhisperNet isn't one of
them, as I know it's active...as is FIDONet).

    Daryl

... I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

The real praise is that I wasn't hurt in a multi-vehicle wreck over
a month ago. I posted the details in another message. With all that
has gone on with it, I think I'm going to start a soap opera..."As

    Not when you put your finger on the <ENTER> key, and hold it there;
and I did just that more than once in this QWK packet. <G>

I think I'm going to turn on the "dupe detector" in the BBS Ads
echoes. I post mine once a month...several systems post their several
times a day. To me, that's overkill.

    LOL...that's too funny.

I saw a note from a fellow ham radio operator, who noted his relatives,

I think some do that less often...as so many can't distinguish
fantasy from reality. When watching the classic Looney Tunes
