It is *possible* he did some recon and noticed it was lacking in security. I don't expect to ever know if this is the case.

going on, there's no point in holding a press conference to state it's
an on-going investigation.

of lies, or truths, could be offered.

to start airing the rallies live. But after the assassination attempt,
it was decided not to allow anyone else any free exposure by streaming
live."
While pure guesswork on my part, I can envision that excuse being

One could make the case that the failed assassination attempt on the
then former President was a figurative gift from the gods to the Trump >campaign. It was only days prior to the shooting that then President
Joe Biden said something to the effect that "Trump needs to be in the
cross hairs." It had all the appearances of a Deep State hit on Trump
and revitalized his campaign, IMHO.
