    Panic? Really?

One of the comments to that article says that he runs Mint and he
*always* compiles the latest release from kernel.org and uses that
    instead of his distro's. Hmmm.

The other person whose blog I read who is 'perpetually' compiling things
is Barry Kauler who builds everything for Easy OS these days from/with
    (a fork of) OpenEmbedded/Yocto.

I don't see anything 'surprising' about glitches popping up when you
want both LTS as well as 'updates'.

    Or point releases vs rolling.

Don't panic ;o) Register articles often have humorous headlines. If
the wording and punctuation is a bit strange, it's often a pun on a song
title or similar - in this case it looks like "Panic! at the Disco".

Though it does nicely demonstrate why Linux keeps multiple kernels
around. If an update fails to boot you can at least boot into the
previous kernel to remove the broken one and/or update again once a
    fixed version is available.
