There is nothing 'wrong with' your OS, agent, or NSP. This froup is
    very quiet.

I see more activity in other linux groups I visit, such as aol & aol.mint.

The ubuntu forum, otoh, is very active. Historically, if I ask a
question in a newsgroup when I haven't been able to find an answer by
looking around elsewhere, and feel that I 'have to' ask my question in a
web forum, and then I get an answer there because there is more
'attention' in the web forum, I have always come back to the newsgroup
and posted my solution, in an effort to keep my /preferred/ exchange
    method alive and well.

Times change; people's behaviors change. Some of the people who 'used
to' be active in newsgroups don't do that anymore.

Also, if you are looking for help for a question, searching in the Ub
web forum is a pretty good source of information. There are some very
    strong 'advisors' there.

Oh it is active but not hyperative.
July 3 is the last one aside from your post
I see. I see Mike Easter replied to you but cannot
    read his remarks.

I don't sort by 'threaded' references; I prefer to sort by date
unthreaded; that way I see the msg/s ordered chronologically. If for
some reason I need to 're-thread' I sort by subject chronologically. It
is rare that I actually need to sort threaded in the case of changing
    subjects of a 'references' thread.

    Well, I've got TBird/Win10/eternal-sept
And the last thread (before this) was "Samba and Windows 10"
First post in thread 17/07, last post 28/07
So, something wrong with your setup?

Thanks to all who responded. I have to admit that I *thought* I wrote
    "..July 31..." not "...July 3 ..." Still,
until you all posted, I haven't seen a message during August. As you
all indicated, neither have you! So I feel OK now. I'll take my meds
    and go to sleep... :)

The sad truth is that even in linuxland too few afficionados are aware
of the fact that the disapearance of usenet is a desired endpoint if for
no other reason than for censurabilty and add revenue both of which come
very easy on a web forum. The private usenet interests should IMO devise
a plan for low-flame adds to inject new life into this last mohican of
    freedom of speech.
