Ukrainian security ahead of any potential ceasefire
with Russia.

Clearly Putin has NO INTEREST in "peace" at this point.
He has a huge military machine in Ukraine, doesn't
give a shit how many Russian troops are killed, has
his focus on his holy mission to restore the old USSR.
So, how can we instill "interest" ... ???
This is NOT so clear.
"Sanctions" ? He found ways to get around all those
years ago. They were imposed too slowly, he found
ways to cope quite well. Russia is now more economically
sound than most of the EU - MUCH more than the UK.
Nothing left but overwhelming military action - but
neither the USA or EU/NATO is gonna DO that.
MY take at this point ... Vlad IS gonna re-own
Ukraine - most or ALL. Anything he doesn't own
is gonna be a RUIN.
Then, the Baltics ...
Sorry, but sometimes things just SUCK.
The 'west' HAD its time to establish firm
barriers - but spent the money/effort on
bullshit socialist/wokie crap instead.
