Getting to that point however is far from simple.
You had fair trade.
In 2020, Trump called the deal he made with Canada and Mexico (the USMCA):
"a tremendous victory for American workers, farmers, manufacturers, and businesses alike."
"a monumental win for American farmers and ranchers"
"fair treatment to American-grown wheat."
Then this year, he said:
"I look at some of these agreements, I’d read them at night, and I’d
say, ‘Who would ever sign a thing like this?’"
