One home business is bicycle wheel build up. I do not know any

USA manufacture should not be a problem except existing factories

A considerred tariffs on bicycle parts could cover domestic

    Using IMPORTED chocolate.

That's the trick. ALL chocolate is imported. This tariff shit will
get their attention again come Valentine's Day, or maybe some day when
a bunch of construction workers shows up at 7-11 looking for a
Snickers snack and finds out the regular size is two dollars.

Trump is slapping a tariff on all
imported iPhones to protect our domestic
iPhone production. Of which there is none.

"The manufacture of iPhone mostly takes
place in East and Southeast Asia, where

    China, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam,
    Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia are
the main countries that bear those

    Italian suits and Columbian coffee.

And now we are to recoil in horror from
    anything made abroad?

The only places in the USA that make chocolate treats are
    Ghiradelli and Sees.

Might be a lot sooner: ~90% of our fireworks come from China.

One home business is bicycle wheel build up. I do not know any
domestic parts producers. Hubs from Japan, rims from France,
spokes from Germany. Manufacturers like to be close to customers.
USA manufacture should not be a problem except existing factories
and expertise are not here. I doubt there would be a large enough
    domestic market to sustain here.

A considerred tariffs on bicycle parts could cover domestic
investment, but unless Specialized wants to expand it would
    punish American shoppes.

It makes sense to manufacture bicycle parts in the Netherlands. Why
would anybody in America do it?

    Insane.

Other that your keepers in the old folks home, nobody is telling you
    want to think, anymore.

Hmmm ... even if senile, he got SOME of it right.

Trump wants instant overwhelming American Superiority
and Self-Sufficiency. He only has a few years to kick
it off, get it going, make decent progress, make the
    money stuff work out.

Sorry, but the Swiss are always going to make better
watches, Cuban cigars will always be the best and we
can argue about Belgian chocolates. Some industries/
products are just historically perfected in countries
    that are NOT the USA.

The USA/UK came up with microprocessors, dRAM chips
and a lot of other basic IT tech. BUT ... we could
not figure out how to make it cheaper/better/more-
reliable worth a damn. I remember those days. As was,
a 'PC' would cost well into five or six figures these
days and perform like an Apple-II.

The Japanese way of thinking was DIFFERENT ... there's
a long history of finding "perfection through simplicity"
in that culture. Japan figured out how to make it
smaller and denser and faster, how to cut many steps
off the manufacturing process AND enhance reliability
all at the same time. It was because they DIDN'T
    think just like westerners.

"The West" may, maybe, still be better at thinking up
the newest neatest tech stuff - but we need HELP making
it "better", "more affordable", so it can be used by
millions and billions. I don't think Trump can turn
the USA into Japan or Taiwan or China even if he
wanted to ... the THINKING is such an important bit
    and that needs an "environment".

This was a case where basic money was a secondary
reason for shifting so much to Japan - to be USEFUL
the tech HAD to be "perfected" first. THEN money,
GOBS of money, could be made all around.

OR ... were you just looking for a forum to either
freak about Trump or make a religion of him or
something similar ? This is an important and deep
subject here, our futures depend on it.
