    prepared for a possible attack by Russia in the next four years.

    Ukraine apparently scored a REALLY damaging hit on a
    Russian air base where many big expensive bombers
    were housed.

    There is a Belaya city about 50 miles from the current
    battle lines, but also a Belaya river that runs well
    back from there, up to maybe 500 miles. The exact
    location of the airbase is unclear to me and Russia
    rarely advertises such details.

    Dubna was also attacked the other day. It is about
    100 miles north of Moscow.

    This SEEMS to be an attack using ordinary, albeit long
    range, drones - not US/German long range missiles.
    Putin got VERY testy about the missiles being fired
    into Russia proper.

    (note, the UK always spells it "defence" in contrast
    the the USA "defense")

    Followup :

    The Belaya air base is WAY WAY to the east of Ukraine,
    kind of half-way over Mongolia, indeed not far from
    its northern border.

    Those were LONG range drones.

    Damages estimated at two, to twenty, BILLION dollars
    worth of Russian hardware.
