Federal immigration raids continue to sweep across the Southland, with
recent operations leading to multiple arrests and sparking political mobilization.

On Wednesday, federal agents conducted an immigration raid at a Los
Angeles Home Depot parking lot using a Penske rental truck, resulting in
16 arrests. This operation, dubbed “Trojan Horse,” is part of a broader crackdown during the “Summer of Resistance.”

Penske stated that they strictly prohibit the transportation of people in
the cargo area of their vehicles and were unaware that their trucks were
used in the operation.

The Department of Homeland Security indicated the raid was in response to
MS-13 gang activity in the area, although KTLA has not confirmed this
claim.

Meanwhile, new video circulating on social media shows two women detained during a separate raid on Wednesday, one of whom is Sabrina Medina, a
pregnant U.S. citizen. Medina was released on Wednesday night and claims
that agents detained her to reach her undocumented husband, who has a
criminal record.

KTLA previously interviewed Medina in June when federal agents raided her
home searching for her husband.

Immigrant rights organizations are planning a day of action on Tuesday, including boycotts and a caravan rally. Businesses targeted for boycott
include McDonald’s, Target, Walmart and Home Depot, which are criticized
for not speaking out against DHS/ICE raids.

Los Angeles Police Department Chief Jim McDonnell expressed concerns about potential conflicts during the raids.

“It’s tough on us…We work on everything but immigration,” McDonnell told
KTLA 5 News. “There are potential blue-on-blue incidents because we don’t
know who’s involved. I’m trying to make sure nobody gets hurt.”
