BB and B won't build stores there anymore, maybe not even open at all.
BB&B went bankrupt two years ago. Until a month ago, they had ZERO
stores anywhere in the world.
Bed Bath & Beyond's Executive Chairman Marcus Lemonis BLASTS California for its hostile business environment and announces over 300 new stores coming
to other states outside California.
300 "new stores"? Yeah...no.
The BB&B name's been bought by Kirkland, and they're looking to
effectively rebrand their existing ~300 Kirtland stores ...
...that is, if Kirtland itself is able to stay afloat.
They've:
* been unprofitable since 2022;
* had two board members resign last year;
* And 1Q25’s EPS was -$0.51
That ain’t growth: it’s desperation. The troll attempt at CA was an attempt at name recognition & relevance.
And trying to invoke the MAGA culture war isn't working out for those
who've gone all-in on Red: Target's revenues have fallen such that
their CEO Brian Cornell announced yesterday that he's stepping down.
