Michigan Joins Combined $16 Million Multi-State Settlements Over 2012 a

LANSING – Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced today that Michigan, along with a coalition of other attorneys general, has
reached two separate settlements with an expert regarding data
breaches it faced in 2012 and 2015 that compromising the personal
information of millions of consumers across the country. The alliance
also reached an exclusive settlement with T-Mobile related to the 2015
breach, which affected more than 15 million people who submitted
T-Mobile credit applications. Under the agreements, the companies
agreed to improve their data security practices and to pay the states
a total of more than $16 million. Michigan will receive a total of
$359,896 in settlements.
