    This is confusing. Doesn't MMS run over mobile data? I wasn't aware
    that it's a separate service from one's mobile phone data plan.

    I don't know that exactly too, but there are Gateways and other stuff
    that are operated by the ISP, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multimedia_Messaging_Service
