    Audacity and FFmpeg are Free software <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_software>, not freeware <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freeware>. Those “licensing
    restrictions” apply to software patents on the codecs. If you want to
    avoid the pain, just avoid those codecs.
