  • Missing default functionality hurts emacs adoption

    The first time I used vi I executed a remote shell and fixed the passwd
    file so I could log back into the system. Try doing that with emacs,
    a floppy disk, and 9600 baud modem :)

    Please enlighten me. I am having serious issues with the booting of
    EFI/firware crap. I would love to never use grub again. Can this be done
    with lilo and the MBR or will that cause a postgres caching problem with
    the SSD drives?

    I say this not in jest; you appear to be logged - without a floppy disk how?

    You can compile your kernel with EFISTUB and the appropiate CMDLINE,
    then you don’t need any bootloader.
    However, you can’t use a ramdisk this way; if you need something like
    that for e.g. decrypting /, you will need to hack something into an
    filesystem that is embedded in the kernel.
