    Not completely related but an interesting question:

    does the bytecode change between 8.x versions and the 9?  Or even
    between 32-bit vs. 64-bit Tcl builds?



    To my knowledge, the Byte codes does not change between 32 and 64 bit.
    In TCL 9.0, there are new byte codes for the const command.
