This is a public Usenet newsgroup, not a web forum or moderated group. Not much can be done beyond tracking down the originating ISP and complaining directly to them.

If you are reading this through a web gateway of some sort there's no point in complaining to that entity as they have no control over matters.

Responsible news masters / administrators of the posting host will care
about their user(s) doing undesirable things. Some news masters are
better than others. Some, you might as well spit into the wind.

One of the most prominent Usenet web UI providers is notorious for
spewing spam and /could/ do more about their users if they wanted to.
Well at least on the account level, independent of account churn.

To Google? The website the spammer promotes is well represented on the
Lumen database for DMCA complaints. Google is only going to care when
it's a publisher doing the reporting.

Guys the only way to stop that crap on this group is to enforce moderation , at least moderate posts of new members -so easy to ID the crap ,not that difficult (I am one of the mods of the µIEC group)

you would have to contact the content moderator that created the group then if they changed the members settings you would see a "members" tab on the left side of the screen where conversations are.
from there you could click a member and ban them.

other google groups have this setting enabled allowing for members to boot spam posting. there are a bunch of greyed out icons which the content manager has locked in this group as they wanted it to be a completely open conversation area however once the
spammers come in you can't get rid of them without some locking down of the conversations by the moderator.

its frustrating and kills these groups off.

Yes! Thanks Chris. So who are the moderators for this group? If we don't have moderators who are active in this group, how do we change that to add additional moderators who are active members of this group?

    Thanks,

This is an early usenet group pre-dating google groups.

I doubt there ever was a moderator, I wouldn't be surprised if a google employee just mapped this and many other usenet groups in.

This is the comp.os.cpm newsgroup on Usenet with a Google Groups

Moderation is not /really/ a thing on Usenet. Sure, there is something
that calls itself moderation, but it's easy to circumvent.

As Grant said, this is the comp.os.cpm newsgroup on Usenet and not
controlled by anyone including Google. I pick up this newsgroup via nntp.aioe.org using Thunderbird and when this crap/scam post appear I'm fortunate that my keyboard has a DELETE key, I just tap that, gone.

I pick up this newsgroup on my personal archive server, where I have
filters in place to block a lot of the articles.

I actively try to filter a lot of crap from my personal archive server.

N.B. I have no such filters on my personal transit server that peers
    with 30 other Usenet servers.

Yes he is wrong to spam so let's spam back.

For me it's not so bad. I intend to ignore it until it drives me to contacting his ISP.

It's possible there's nobody to read the inbox but one can live in
hope. For sure whoever is behind it is living in hope of making
easy money. That too, is also doubtful.

This is a usenet group passing through Google groups. It hugely predates Google groups. There is no moderation and no one is in charge.

Complain all you want no one can stop you just as no one can stop anyone.
