How to Create Solid Models of Drive Components with Camnetics GearTrax 2012 SOLIDWORKS
If you are a designer who needs to create solid models of drive components such as gears, splines, pulleys and cams, you might want to check out Camnetics GearTrax 2012 SOLIDWORKS. This is a software add-on for SOLIDWORKS that provides you with an easy
to use tool for creating solid models of drive components with true involute tooth profiles[^1^]. You can also work with multiple parts and assemblies, and generate data sheets with Excel[^2^]. In this article, we will show you how to use Camnetics
GearTrax 2012 SOLIDWORKS to create some common types of drive components.

    Spur and Helical Gears
Spur and helical gears are the most basic types of gears that transmit motion between parallel shafts. To create a spur or helical gear with Camnetics GearTrax 2012 SOLIDWORKS, follow these steps:

Open SOLIDWORKS and start a new part.
Go to Tools > Add-Ins and check the box for Camnetics GearTrax 2012.
A new tab called Camnetics will appear on the ribbon. Click on it and select GearTrax.
A dialog window will open where you can choose the type of component you want to create. Select Spur/Helical Gear and click OK.
Another dialog window will open where you can enter the parameters for your gear, such as number of teeth, pitch diameter, pressure angle, helix angle, etc. You can also select a standard from the drop-down menu and let the software calculate the
    parameters for you.
Click on Create Part to generate the solid model of your gear. You can also click on Preview to see how it looks before creating it.
You can modify the parameters of your gear at any time by clicking on Edit Part on the Camnetics tab.
    Bevel Gears
Bevel gears are used to transmit motion between intersecting shafts. To create a bevel gear with Camnetics GearTrax 2012 SOLIDWORKS, follow these steps:

Open SOLIDWORKS and start a new part.
Go to Tools > Add-Ins and check the box for Camnetics GearTrax 2012.
A new tab called Camnetics will appear on the ribbon. Click on it and select GearTrax.
A dialog window will open where you can choose the type of component you want to create. Select Bevel Gear and click OK.
Another dialog window will open where you can enter the parameters for your bevel gear, such as number of teeth, pitch diameter, pressure angle, shaft angle, etc. You can also select a standard from the drop-down menu and let the software calculate the
    parameters for you.
Click on Create Part to generate the solid model of your bevel gear. You can also click on Preview to see how it looks before creating it.
You can modify the parameters of your bevel gear at any time by clicking on Edit Part on the Camnetics tab.
    Worm Gears
Worm gears are used to transmit motion between non-parallel and non-intersecting shafts. They also provide a high reduction ratio and a self-locking feature. To create a worm gear with Camnetics GearTrax 2012 SOLIDWORKS, follow these steps:

Open SOLIDWORKS and start a new part.
Go to Tools > Add-Ins and check the box for Camnetics GearTrax 2012.
