• How to use old VGA monitor with uefi?

From Tim Ritberg@21:1/5 to All on Sun May 5 14:58:13 2024
    Hi!

I have a new home server with efi bios and want to use my old 14" VGA
    monitor (AOC cmlb-335).

How to setup grub2 to use 640x480 or 800x600 with 60-70Hz? GRUB_GFXMODE="640x480x16" does not work well. Screen is not readable
then, seems to be out of range.

Grapics is buildin Ryzen 5 4600G.

What does the firmware have to do with if VGA works or not?

    That's a graphics configuration problem.

    Try text mode without graphics.

I would sincerely hope that it still supports the venerable VGA text modes.

    Because UEFI killed VGA VESA.

Thank you for explaining. I was not aware of that.
