PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A cornerstone of Portland’s LGBTQ+ community, CC Slaughters announced it will close its doors permanently this summer.
Slaughters opened in 1981 as a dance club that attracted gay customers.
Since then, it has grown to include a variety of performers and events
that that cater to the wider LGBTQ+ community.
In 2020, the club, which sits between NW 2nd and 3rd Ave. on NW Davis
St., closed temporarily during the COVID-19 pandemic, and later reopened
in April 2021.
“CC Slaughters has played an iconic [role] as a safe-space for queer
nightlife for over 44 years in Portland,” the club wrote on Facebook.
“We are looking forward to serving Portland for the next two final
months of business.”
The club said their doors are set to close permanently on Aug. 3, 2025.
